What a day! We are finally back in Boston, and after crisscrossing the country twice in two weeks, plus the almost eight hour drive on Wednesday and a five hour drive today, I am ready to unpack and to settle into a routine until Christmas comes and I have another three weeks of travel. There’s this whole marathon training thing that I seem to be ignoring. . . better get on that! I had a really great time at home in NJ. On Friday, rather than braving stores, malls, or even New York City restaurants, I slept in, read lots of Foodbuzz stuff, then had a low key late lunch before taking my niece to her swimming class (where she happens to be the best, and youngest swimmer, very very proud). Lunch as at the Harvest Moon Brewery in New Brunswick, New Jersey, an area best known for being the main campus of Rutgers University. It was also where I used to hang out when I came home for holidays from college. It has some really cute areas to walk around and is probably the restaurant hub closest to my NJ home. Harvest Moon brews its own beer and always has a new selection of brews on tap. At the moment they are offering the following: British Nut Brown Elmes’ Mild Manor Jimmy D’s Firehouse Red HF Belgian Ale Full Moon Pale Ale Moonlight Kolschbier Harvest Hefeweizen Oatmeal Stout I ordered the Oatmeal Stout which was creamy and had a toasty, roasted coffee bean flavor with a hint of chocolate.
For lunch, I ordered the fajita salad which was a tortilla shell filled with romaine lettuce, black beans, tomatoes, and corn, topped with a mango salsa dressing, guacamole, and a dollop of sour cream.
It was nice to eat some fresh vegetables, especially topped with guacamole, one of my favorite all time foods. I ate a couple bites of the shell, but those tortillas are really wasted on me. They taste quite good but are a nutritional nightmare! Harvest Moon has a great menu. I actually had a difficult time deciding between several salads, veggie chili, and a veggie sandwich. I stole some of their fries from my sister, and they were REALLY good. If you are ever in the area and looking for good food and beer, definitely check it out. When I returned home today, I had a package from one of my Foodbuzz foodies, Amie at The Healthy Apple! It is chock full of coupons for healthy products, most of which I have never tried and would love to! Thanks, Amie I love my Foodbuzz friends!
The rest of the weekend will be spent settling in and getting ready for the week. I also plan on visiting the MSPCA to walk dogs, going running with a co-worker to try out a new running club in the area, and doing a lot of writing. I have two guest post opportunities this month, and I am really excited about them. I love guest posting and having guests! If you are interested in writing about food, travel, wine, or fitness, please let me know. I am collecting posts! Before I go, a couple of things: 1) The winner of the Trader Joe’s Super Red Drink Powder giveaway is Erin from Big Girl Eats! Thanks to everyone for entering! Erin please send me an email at email@example.com to let me know where to send the drink powder. I hope you love it as much as I do! 2) It doesn’t seem like holiday tea will work the weekend of December 13th for many people. Does the weekend after work? If we can’t get a group together, I would love to do something in early January, or if any of you ladies are ever free for after work drinks in Boston, we could also do that! Enjoy your Saturday night!
