Farmers’ Market Photos

I couldn’t resist. I am fully and completely in love with summer. Here is why:

Siena Farms

Siena Farms’ sunflowers filled the Boylston Street side of the market, a tiny bit of Tuscany in Boston.

It was so beautiful and colorful it was almost dizzying.

Apples and peaches for pies, crisps, salads, and snacks. The arrival of apples makes me look forward to autumn.

Perhaps my favorite part of summer, fresh, local tomatoes. None of those white-fleshed, dry winter tomatoes. I need to learn to do some canning.

The market was full of sweet corn, perfect for making sriracha corn and shrimp salad.

Yes, the Copley Farmers’ Market is a great reminder that life is very good when things seem a little too hard. :)

How do you snap out of a funk and remember how great life truly is?

Gorgeous photos, especially the sunflowers – they are my favorite flower! I’ve been a bit stressed lately with work so I’ve been taking long walks when I can – during my lunch break, after dinner, etc. The fresh air helps me clear my head and refresh my soul. I know you’ve been in a bit of a funk but I hope you’re on the mend!

There is nothing better than wandering around a farmer’s market. All the colors and smells. It’s my favorite place to get local honey. Love the pictures!

I picked my own tomatillos yesterday at the farm we have our farm share at and also picked green beans and flowers. It was a healing moment in the middle of the day to be outside alone in a field surrounded by beautiful things. After a walk/jog and drive home, I was struck by hunger and inspiration and made local peach crisp, roasted tomatillo salsa, and (a la you) super veggie chili with just about every veg you can imagine. My kitchen smelled divine, and I listened to music (instead of t.v.) while I cooked. I found a small slice of peace (and had it with a side of warm crisp and vanilla ice cream ;) ). Hope you get some slices of summer peace this weekend too!

I love your tomato post, but I couldn’t comment on it! I too always buy too many tomatoes and end up having to rush to use them. Great ideas!

Great photos! I spoke at length with one of the women at Siena Farms and she said that business is way, way up this year. She felt like it is really all clicking for people – the idea of fresh, local food for at least part of the year. Exciting to see so many people there. Now if only I could get my son to beg for a peach instead of the Apple Barn’s cinnamon sugar donuts!
