Westin Copley Place

Last weekend I attended an event at Boston’s Westin Copley Place hotel, celebrating their recent $18 million guest room renovations.

The newly renovated guest rooms, which are being completed just in time to be filled for Boston’s best day, Marathon Monday, place an emphasis on being green and feature the following:

  • High efficiency lighting via compact fluorescent lamping in all fixtures & LED lighting at the headboard
  • All paints used are low VOC
  • All vinyl wallcoverings have a recycled/green backing
  • Guestroom & Corridor Carpet is certified for “Green Label Plus” status by the CRI (Carpet & Rug Institute) per attached document
  • Guestroom & Corridor Carpet Pad – qualifies for LEED certification under the USGBC standard for Low Emitting Materials
  • Headboard fabric is constructed from 66% recycled content
  • Entry Wood Floor: EnviroCoreTM, the high-density-fiber (HDF) core featured in Shaw’s EpicTM hardwood and laminate products, is made from post-industrial recycled wood fiber. Use of this innovative core means consumption of fewer trees and less waste.  In addition, 100% of the post-industrial laminate manufacturing waste from our Ringgold, Georgia facility is diverted from the landfill and used as fuel, mainly for Shaw’s waste-to-energy process, the innovative technology that converts carpet and wood waste to steam energy through a process called gasification. Manufacturing waste from our West Coast operations is also sold for fuel.

We arrived at the Westin and were taken up to a floor of renovated guest rooms by the Director of Sales & Marketing. Overall, we toured three rooms, a double queen, a king, and a corner suite.

In addition to being environmentally friendly, the rooms are beautiful. They are cleanly decorated with crisp linens, lots of space, and great natural light.

Each room is decorated with Boston-inspired art, perfect for a hotel that is located in the heart of Boston.

Speaking of Boston, check out these views!

Although the Westin is a huge hotel, I appreciated the attention to detail in these rooms, including power outlet pyramids on the night stands. The power pyramids offer multiple outlets for plugging in phones, laptops, etc. I often feel like hotels lack outlets, especially near the bed, so this little touch was pretty neat to me.

It was fun to actually get an inside view of the rooms; so often people ask for Boston hotel recommendations, and it’s hard to recommend when I haven’t actually seen the inside of most of them! Based on the tour, I would definitely recommend the Westin as a lovely, incredibly located hotel for out of towners and staycationers alike.

After the tour, we were treated to a glass of bubbly in Turner Fisheries, a place I visited last summer for a great Bloody Mary bar. Turners has a great menu, and it sounds like they have some fun stuff coming up for the spring and summer.

Thanks to 451 Marketing for inviting me to tour the Westin!

Happy Friday, everyone! Do you have fun weekend plans?

Good to know. Leah has a crazy amount of starwood points, so we occasionally get rooms at the Westin for out of town family (including one room for April 17th… ahem). It’s nice to know that they’ve been renovated recently.
