A Summer Day Trip from Boston

The past few weeks have been a whirlwind. I can’t even believe it’s the second week of July. The best season of the year flies by quickly, there’s no doubt about that! Since May, I interviewed, was offered, and started a new job that I absolutely love. I also visited the Cape, had my family in town, had my husband’s parents in town, and started training for the NYC Marathon. Phew.

Luckily, I also had a couple of days to relax, unwind, and enjoy coastal living in Massachusetts. On one of those days, my husband was able to join me, and we put together quite the little staycation. It started with 90 minute massages at Elements in Hingham. We love Elements; the prices are great, it’s clean and relaxing, and the massage therapists are fantastic.

Once we were all loose and relaxed, we headed down to Cohasset for a seaside lunch at Atlantica’s Olde Salt House.

Olde Salt House Perched right on the harbor, the deck at the Olde Salt House is the perfect place for a meal or cocktails. Though it was a warm day, we had a nice sea breeze and shade from nearby umbrellas.

Since we were celebrating my new job, cocktails were in order, and I had a refreshing Dark n Stormy to start. I’m loving these right now.

dark n stormy We decided to split a box of fried clams and a lobster BLT with fries. I can’t imagine anything better than fried seafood next to the sea, and these were perfect. They were nice and light, hot, and briny.

We ended the day with a sunset sail on a friend’s boat, taking in the city from the back of Thompson Island. We are blessed to live in such a beautiful place.

Are you taking any time off this summer for travel or a staycation?

Love these pictures – When we return to the cold doldrums of winter its wonderful to be reminded of the warm and sunny days of summer. That picture of the Dark n’ Stormy with the beads of water on the sides of the glass, and that plump Lobster BLT make we want to go back and have lunch there again. What a beautiful day.

Oh my… the lobster BLT! Sounds amazing. As does a nice cool Dark and Stormy. Glad you are living it up this summer. We are keeping things pretty low-key with the little one but have managed to travel to NYC and Maine recently!

So funny – I was just at Olde Salt house on Friday for a drink before my friend’s wedding down the street! We just got drinks, but the food looks great.
